Laser Tattoo Removal

Tattoo Removal

There are many reasons you may wish to get a tattoo removed, in fact around 65% of people with tattoos experience regret. Your tattoo may have started to fade, the design may now seem outdated, or maybe you would like it faded out, to have a new tattoo put in its place.

At Hayley’s Hair Removal & Aesthetics Poole, we use the AW3 ND Yag Q switch laser to remove tattoos. This machine is known as the “King of Lasers” and is the same laser used by Jay Hutton on Tattoo Fixers.

After treatment it is normal to see ’frosting’ and pinpoint bleeding, this usually subsides very quickly. You will see a difference to your tattoo immediately after treatment, the ink will continue to fade over the weeks following treatment.

Frequently asked questions

How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?

The body’s immune system cannot naturally remove tattoo ink particles from the skin, as they are too large and sit deep in the dermis.

Short bursts of high energy light are produced by the Q-switched laser when it comes into contact with a tattoo. Light is then absorbed by the tattoo ink, creating a photoacoustic shock wave, that releases heat from the tattoo. This shatters the tattoo ink into minute particles. The shattered particles are then carried away by macrophages and leave the body through the lymphatic system.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

All tattoos are different – this can depend on the colour, age and depth of the tattoo. Some inks, such as light blue, green or red, can be difficult to lift from the skin. An average of 5-12 treatments may be needed. These treatments must be spaced out every 6-8 weeks.

Is There Anything I Need To Do Before Treatment?

• Shave the area so no hair is present

• No sun/UV exposure for 30 days before a treatment

• No anti-inflammatories/steroids 2 weeks before or after a treatment

• You cannot have this treatment if you are on anticoagulants

• No Roaccutane in the last 6 months

What Is The Aftercare For Tattoo Removal?

Full aftercare instructions will be given after your treatment, however, here are some key points below:
