Laser Hair Removal

Excess hair can be time consuming, unsightly, and difficult to remove. Shaving, waxing and hair removal creams are all temporary methods of hair removal and come with a variety of problems, such as razor rash and ingrown hairs.

At Hayley’s Hair Removal & Aesthetics we use Lynton’s powerful medical grade British Intense Pulsed Light system (IPL), for safe and effective hair removal. The system can deliver some of the most advanced treatments safely and provides excellent results.

IPL hair removal can be used on almost every area of the body such as face, underarms, legs & bikini area.

Frequently asked questions

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

In simple terms, laser hair removal works by focusing an intense beam of light to the treatment area.

This light will reach the hair follicles, where pigment in the hair absorbs it. This absorption damages the follicle and prevents further hair growth, providing a successful solution to removing hair. Only hairs that are in their ‘active’ growth phase will be destroyed. This is why a course of treatments are required.

The rate of hair growth decreases the more treatments you have.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

Everyone is different, it can depend on your hair colour, the area of the body we are treating, and your individual response. The recommended number is between 6-12 treatments, on average 8 treatments will be needed.

How Often Will I Need a Treatment?

You will need one treatment spaced out every 4-8 weeks.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

Most areas of the body are suitable for treatment. The most popular areas are the bikini area, underarms, lip, chin, neck, legs, abdomen and legs.

Is Treatment Suitable For All Hair Colours?

Intense Pulsed Light will not target white, grey or, very blonde hairs. There is not enough pigmentation in these colours for the light to target.

IPL works best on dark hairs because they contain more pigmentation to absorb the light.

Is The Treatment Permanent?

IPL will permanently destroy active growing hair follicles, meaning that no hairs will be able to grow from these follicles again.

A yearly one off top up treatment is recommended to catch any hairs that were previously in the dormant growth phase, or to catch any new follicles your body may have produced.

Is The Treatment Painful?

Most people describe the treatment as a warming or tingling of the skin, and in some cases a flick of an elastic band sensation.

Most treatments are easy and quick to perform. We will apply some soothing gel after each treatment to help minimise discomfort and redness to the treatment area.
